Built on the site of the former Renny Lodge Hospital in Newport Pagnell, work has begun on the first site to be aprt of the Design for Manufacture competition. The new development is one of three sites to be regenerated by the SixtyK consortium.
Constructed using Kingspan's TEK building system, the properties have thermal efficiency and airtightness levels which achieve an EcoHomes rating of 'Excellent'. A U-value of 0.20 W/m?K is delivered from the TEK Building System. Once the TEK system is delivered to site, the pre-insulated, precision manufactured panels will be assembled to create each house structure.
An energy efficiency analysis conducted by Clays of Addingham has shown that heating bills in homes that use the TEK Building System from Kingspan Century are 80% less than homes constructed using traditional building methods.
Clays of Addingham has used the system on many of its developments as its thermal performance is up to 45% higher than the Part L Building Requirements, the company claims.
With a u-value of 0.20W/mK, the system delivers its performance due to its composition of 110mm of rigid urethane insualtion, which has a zero Ozone Depletion Potential, sandwiched between two sheets of OSB. Airtightness provides insulation with a sealed joining system minimising the passage of air.
