Aquapanel - Drywall for Wet Areas

Aquapanel cement board is an extremely durable tile backer providing a solid substrate for wet indoor areas such as bathrooms, shower rooms and wet rooms. Resistant to mould and mildew, Aquapanel will not deteriorate in water. It retains its strength even if fully immersed.
A purpose designed tile backing board, Aquapanel solves the problems experienced when traditional backing materials get wet. So no more costly call backs to replace rotten or damaged boards. Aquapanel Screws ensure a quick and easy installation with no special tools required. Aquapanel is ready keyed to take tiles up to 50 kg/m2 as soon as the boards are installed.
Tile Failure - Why does it happen?
Tile failure can be extremely costly and when traditional materials are used the result is often replacement of the substrate behind the tiles, as well as the tiles themselves.
With Knauf Aquapanel, however, tile or grout failure normally means only a simple localised repair is needed, as water ingress will not harm the tile backing. Tile failure occurs when moisture can get into the substrate.
Water ingress due to damaged grout, tiles or pipes simply does not affect Aquapanel, leaving you with just a localised repair. Which is why Knauf Aquapanel comes with a 10 year product warranty.

Ready-mix Joint Cement Lite Easy Sand from Knauf Drywall has been improved further to make it more user-friendly.
The cement is now even lighter, as well as faster and simpler to sand - joint edges can be feathered finely for a seamless, invisible finish. It also offers greater resistance to cracking and excellent adhesion.
Packed as before in 12.7 litre tubs, the product now weight about 2kg lighter than before, at 14kg a tub, for easier handling. Furthermore, shelf-life has been increased by 50% so, if necessary it can be stored for longer. Because it is factory mixed, the manufacturers maintain that consistent high quality is assured.
Knauf Drywall Product Manager Stuart Hiscott said: 'We have worked with industry professionals to improve the properties of the product even further, in direct response to customers' needs. With these improvements, Knauf Joint Cement Lite Easy Sand should be the first choice for any dry lining contractor.'
Knauf Drywall has launched a new time-saving product - the Knauf Putty Pads. Said to be the easy answer for reliable acoustic and fire protection of electrical socket boxes in drywall partitions, it also comes with Robust Detail approval for use in plasterboard separating walls in timber frames or steel studs. The pads are primaily used to preserve the integrity of drywall around electrics.
Time and money saving news from Knauf Drywall: The company has lifted the lid on its online tool that gives drywall specifiers and contractors the ability to produce accurate procurement schedules from complex drywall specifications in seconds.
Knauf told Building Products that its Procurement Schedule tool complements its award winning Partition Specifier tool.
Procurement Schedule uses data from Partition Specifier to minimise the additional information needed to calculate precise requirements for a complete drywall installation. The additional data includes the overall run of a specified partition type.
Knauf Drywall is lending its expertise to developers seeking to optimise accommodation and quality in buildings where ground space is at a premium.
One example of this is its work at a landmark residential tower on Liverpool's waterfront. In this case a slim 130mm separating wall was used to save valuable space while also meeting fire resistance and acoustic requirements.
Alexandra Tower at Princess Dock has separating walls that provide 120 minutes' fire resistance and 60dB RW airborne sound reduction between apartments. Contracts Director for dryline contractor, Mansell Finishes, Phil Bartley, said the 130mm construction exceeded requirements in on-site acoustic testing.
A superb finish and full marks for speed and neatness have put machine applied MP75 plaster from Knauf Drywall at the top of the class on a secondary school building site in Oldham, Lancashire.
With a single machine, a team of three plasterers and a labourer is well on the way to completing the 22,000mē project involving 220 tons of plaster comfortably ahead of schedule.
Knauf MP75 is described as a fast and tough alternative to traditional two coat plasters, and one of the most productive building materials on the market. It is a fast-drying projection plaster specially formulated for one-coat machine application on most interior walling surfaces. It is particularly suitable for surfaces such as brickwork, blockwork and concrete.
Supplied in 25kg bags, Knauf MP75 is machine mixed with water to yield about 28 litres of wet plaster to cover around three square metres at an average thickness of 1cm.
The plaster is machine-applied to wall in horizontal bands, then simply ruled and floated manually for a durable, smooth white finish. It is available abrasive proof and fire retarding and is ideal for decorating or tiling.
Gypsum Parge Coat from Knauf Drywall has won a 'seal' of approval for use on separating walls of medium density aggregate blockwork.
It has achieved Robust Detail approval for use on separating walls of type e-WM-4, one of the most commonly used.
Gypsom Parge Coat is designed to seal masonry walls prior to finishing. It ensures acoustic performance and offers fast drying times.
Hand or machine mixed, the product can be manually or spray applied. It is applied in a continuous layer over the entire wall surface to ensure that gaps are filled, especially at junctions and corners. The company claims that it is easier to apply than traditional sand-cement renders.
