When a major refurbishment programme began at Manchester University the Mathematics School turned to modular building provider Portakabin for an interim accommodation solution.
Following the demolition of the old Maths building, it was estimated that it would take three years to construct the new building. As a result the school required a temporary building to provide a productive working and learning environment for staff and students alike.
Martin Renshaw, of the University, said: 'We needed to ensure the building offered a high standard of accommodation, as it would be on site for three years. For some undergraduates it would be their base for their entire degree course. The Ultima building provides a high quality working environment and enabled us to create the large open-plan, column-free space we needed.'
Leading supplier of relocatable restrooms, Portaloo has launched a range of what it describes as high quality sports changing rooms.
Called Portaloo Premium, they are said to provide smart, clean spacious amenities, which can be installed and ready for use within days, possibly while permanent facilities are being developed.
With the Governments 2006 deadline for providing 250,000 new childcare places fast approaching, Portakabin claims to have built the first-ever modular children?s centre. The modular nature of the Lilliput children?s centre means that facilities can be erected quickly, enabling local authorities to start providing these facilities as quickly as possible. The company offers a full turnkey package, which includes taking care of planning permission applications through to furniture, carpets and d?cor.
