Doors which open in one direction only but require to open in the opposite direction in certain situations, can be fitted with a pivot and emergency release bolt or stop from Royde and Tucker. The situation may be, for example, that an inward opening door for a disabled WC may need to open outwards, if an injury or emergency besets the person. Locks and bolts also incorporate an emergency release facility.
