Security windows by Sonic Windows have been installed in Police Stations at Pembroke Dock, Milford Haven, Fishguard and Llanelli. The multilaminated glass is effective against physical attack yet allows for eye contact, while the Open Duplex intercom system offers easy, undistorted communication. Induction loops are fitted to window frames for the benefit of those with hearing aids.
Modernisation of the Sutton Coldfield railway station ? which is situated in a conservation area ? has included work from Sonic Windows. The company was involved in creating two ticket workstations ? one at a low level for wheelchair users. Original wood panelling was retained and the new counters were of timber as were the window surrounds.
Tailor-made for its offices, which handle large amounts of cash, the Estates management section of the University of Essex has called upon Sonic Windows to provide a secure window system. Two Speakeasy windows were installed which include an intercom that offers undistorted sound communication even in places with high background noise.
An outdated railway station serving the South Cornish town of Liskeard has been refurbished in a project costing over ?800,000. The station now features a modern concourse with waiting and buffet areas, new toilets including some for disabled use and a redesigned ticket office. Sonic Windows was asked to design and supply the ticket office work station for Liskeard. The remit called for two windows, one at normal height and the other designed to accommodate wheelchair access. The Sonic window design consists of a complete screen of multilaminated glass, an electronic intercom system and cashflow trays recessed into the counter.
