Tarmac Topblock, part of Tarmac's Building Products group, is the UK's leading manufacturer of concrete blocks with specifications to match the most demanding of building requirements.
With a unique product range including aircrete, dense, and lightweight aggregate blocks, Topblock is able to offer a product for every application from an extensive network of production facilities.
Tarmac Topblock can help ensure you conform to the new Part L thermal regulations.
Tarmac Topblock has joined forces with waste specialists Hippowaste to launch an initiative to help companies in the construction industry manage on-site block waste and reduce the amount of material sent to landfill.
The company's Take Back Scheme will enable sites to dispose of all broken, damaged or unused blocks in specially provided 1 cubic yard capacity Hippobags, supplied by Hippowaste. Once 10 or more bags are full, they will be collected by Hippowaste and returned to the nearest Tarmac Recycling plant, where the material will be crushed and recycled into new blocks.
After successful trials, some regions already have the service and it will be delivered nationally in a few months.
Construction of a housing development in Wales has included the use of Tarmac Topblock's Durox System blockwork with thin joint technology.
The properties were constructed using 125mm width Durox blocks, supplied in coursing heights of 215mm and 299mm. Partial cavity insulation was built into the Durox external walls using special system helical ties from Clan, which ensured the 50mm cavity wall insulation boards were retained against the surface of blockwork.
The system provides high thermal efficiency and a weather tight envelope.
