When customers arrive at the Marco Restaurant, they will be welcomed by a Rondor circular-sliding automatic entrance from Tormax. Located in the grounds of Chelsea football club, the restaurant is the new venture of celebrity chef, Marco Pierre White. The Rondor consists of two sets of curved glass doors, creating a striking architectural feature. The external doors slide apart, allowing customers into a lobby area where they face a second set of doors leading directly into the restaurant. An integrated air curtain effectively helps maintain the ambient temperature for diners, while the doors are powered by Tormax TEP operators, neatly housed within the circular casing.
Target Living, the interior architects, discussed many options for the entrance way with Tormax but with relatively limited available space the Rondor was specified partly because it creates 50% larger opening space than sliding doors would deliver, and because an airlock can be formed between two sets of doors.
Aiming to improve accessibility for all students and staff, Farnborough Sixth Form College, contracted Glass Products to design and install a lobby area to the main entrance of the building, with automatic door operators being supplied by Tormax.
Making a feature of the curved transom of the existing brickwork, an all-glass lobby has been created with a double set of automatic doors ensuring smooth flowing foot traffic, even at busy times of the day.
Due to location restrictions, two Tormax TDA operators were used for the inner set of swings doors while a cost-effective Win Drive slide door system was installed on the external entrance.
Swiss-designed, all Tormax operators are the result of over 50 years experience in developing cutting-edge, automatic door technology.
The TDA Swingdoor is one of the most established Tormax operators, delivering exceptional reliability combined with unequalled functionality. Responding to customer demand, the Win Drive Slidedoor delivers a system that is quick to install, surprisingly compact, and simple to operate.
St Alban, the recently opened fashionable new restaurant in London has an open access system designed and installed by Tormax.
The discreetly marked doorway at street level features an imposing set of manual brass doors which open into a lobby area. From here, a floor-to-floor ceiling full glass door utilises the company's technology to maximum effect, gliding to one side to allow guests ion to the main restaurant .
A further automatic sliding door provides dramatic access to the continental styled, mixed toilet facilities.
Launched six months ago, the Frameless operator is said to represent a first in the marketplace for Tormax. Removing the need for visible top or bottom rails that tend to interfere with design aesthetics, the frameless hi-tech operator allows a minimalist internal entrance to be be created.
A fixing system attaches to the top of the door leaves to trolleys, which are hidden inside the operator cover.
Stabilising the door at floor level, an unobstrusive sprung-loaded guide is fitted just under the back of the door leave in its open position, keeping the door under constant pressure and ensuring it cannot swing out.
Automating an existing manual door to one side of the main revolving door, the Tormax underfloor swing-door operator has been installed at the Royal Institute of British Architects' building in London.
The Tormax Power Drive 1401 is fully compatible with a 240V electrical supply, and improves Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliance without intefering with the architecture.
Automating an all-glass sliding door without the need for visible top or bottom rails, Tormax has launched the Win Drive Full Glass frameless door operator which creates a minimalist internal entrance.
The system used a fixing system to attach the top of the door leaves to the trolleys, all of which are hidden inside the operator cover. A sprung loaded guide is fitted under the back edge of the door leaf in its open position, keeping the door under constant pressure. It is powered by the Win Drive 2201, which measures 142mm by 100mm.
Mounted in a box in the floor, the Swingdoor Power Drive 1401 from Tormax opens either new or existing swing doors without any visible operator interfering with the architectural aesthetics of the entrance.
Due to its compatability with a standard 240V electrical supply, the product is easier to install. The synchronous motor in the product has a long operating lifespan as there are no abrading parts to cause friction wear. This ensures that doors open and close in silence, making it suitable for museums and libraries.
Disability Discrimination Act compliant, it allows heritage buildings to have automated access without affecting the architectural facade. Adjustable electronic obstacle recognition ensures safety.
As part of a refurbishment, Hartlepool College has installed an automatic Tormax Revolvedoor to the main building. The company's 5201 Universal operator delivers reliability for revolving doors of up to 4m diameter.
Providing insulation, the 3-leaf door reduces heating costs as well as meeting current Disability Discrimination Act requirements by microwave sensors for door activation.
Based on two curved sliding automatic doors that move independently, the Rondor circular sliding automatic door system from Tormax has been installed at the UK head office of Cadence Design Systems.
The new system stands at 3.5m high and the shell is constructed for longevity from brushed stainless steel. It has been linked up to a remote building access system, permitting the doors and the electronic locking mechanism to be operated from a single terminal, reducing heat loss by adjusting the traffic flow.
Continuing to improve accessibility, the National Portrait Gallery specified Tormax to install four underfloor door operators, automating two sets of double manual swing doors.
Hidden out of sight, the electro-hydraulic TN units are mounted in a galvanised steel box sunk in the floor. For service free operation, all parts are encased in oil. The control panel is installed in a suitable location near the doors, as specified.
As well as using products from the company, the Gallery also took advice on adjusting angles and opening and closing speeds.
In addition to improving access, the doors help preserve the collections inside because the manual doors were often left open, leading to costly heat loss and damage.
Morfa Shopping Park, Swansea has brought a wide range of fashion outlets to the local community with Tormax providing frontages to outlets such as Next, TK Maxx and Sports World. Swiss-designed, the TLP door operator controlling the sliding doors at the shopping park is designed for consistent performance in heavy-use situations, ensuring the stores can be accessed by all members of the public. The most popular of the company?s door operators, the TLP delivers high security for users with the facility for up to four sensors and two light beams. Simple to programme, the sliding doors at Morfa Shopping Park can be adjusted for speed and opening width depending on weather conditions and peak shopping times. This helps maintain store temperatures and reduce heating costs. Suitable for a variety of locations, Tormax manufacture and install a complete range of automatic door systems, from prestigious entry pods through to door operators capable of automating most swing doors.
Designed as a slim unit which is quick to install in the majority of openings, Tormax has launched the Slidedoor Win Drive 2001 automatic door system. It will operate either a single-leaf sliding door of up to 120kg or a double set of doors weighing 100kg per leaf.
