Speed and simplicity are said to be central to Tremco illbruck's latest offering for the contract flooring industry, Treadfast Kwiklay is a reinforced PVC underlay that provides a moisture resistant barrier across a variety of substrates. It is supplied in 25 metre rolls of 1.45 metre width which are loose laid across the floor. The material is cut into the wall all around the perimeter and the joints butted together before being sealed with waterproof tape. Critical to its performance is the presence of resin peduncles on the underside which raises the fibreglass membrane of the sub floor.

The construction of new laboratories at Dundee University involved extensive use of Tremco's Treadfast One Coat Universal damp proof membrane and Treadfast Unitex underlayment. Applied to thousands of square metres, the product forms a guaranteed damp proof membrane across concrete and sand/cement screed substates with RH readings of up to 97%.

A challenging refurbishment project which involved replacing a failed membrane installed across the upper decks of a multi-storey car park in Coventry turned to Tremco illbruck's Rapide waterproofing and wearing course system to provide the answer. The original waterproof treatment applied to the precast concrete decks on the steel frame had cracked allowing rainwater to cause serious problems. Around 2200m? of the system was installed after the failed surfacing was removed by planing before the installation of the fluid applied system that is reinforced with metre wide rolls of polyester fleece to prevent cracking. Different colours are available to identify walkways.

Two new products have been added to Tremco illbruck's range of floor smoothing compounds, the Treadfast Unilay one part self smoothing underlayment and Treadfast Unibase pre-smoothing repair compound. Designed for the preparation and smoothing of interior subfloors, Treadfast Unilay is a cementitious compound that provides adhesion to a range of flooring substrates and is suitable for thicknesses of 1mm to 5mm. Suitable for use below damp proof membranes, Treadfast Unibase can bond to damp porous substrates without the use of a primer and has a suitability for thicknesses of 3mm to 50mm.

Derived from polymer technology that can be used to bond a range of rubber and pvc flooring, coving and skirting, Tremco has introduced Treadfast 5000 AT, a solvent and isocyate free product that cures in 36 to 48 hours. Offering heat, chemical and water resistance, the product is suitable for use where solvents and hazardous chemicals are not allowed or where immediate grab is needed. It can also be applied in wet environments.

Utilised on the new premises of Stephenson College at Coalville are flooring products from Tremco. Due to the high moisture content readings detected in the power floated concrete slabs, the company's Treadfast One Coat Universal surface damp proof membrane was recommended to be applied across the whole 10100m? complex. For the areas due to be laid with commercial floorcoverings, the company's Unitex was applied to smooth the surface. Classic Interiors then installed Armstrong Fundamental carpets and resilient rubber flooring. Industrial flooring specialist Tornado Management put down two layers of the company's Drycote to achieve a slip resistant, hardwearing floor surface in the college's training rooms and wet areas.

Refurbishment at Cafe Carrington in Cambridge has involved the use of Tremco's Treadfast Uniflow underlayment and Treadfast Universal damp proof membrane. Due to a tight building programme, Uniflow's ability to receive a final floorcovering of high quality vinyl within eight hours of being laid on top of the damp proof membrane was a reason for specification. As a result, six days were saved from the contract. The existing floor surface of polished marble tiles was cleaned and abraded prior to laying of the damp proof membrane with a notched trowel and flattening it with a roller.

With a curing time as low as three hours, Treadfast Fastrak Universal from Tremco is claimed to provide a damp proof membrane with a single liquid application. The product is a two part epoxy based single coat solution. It comprises of a flexible epoxy which contains wetting aids and penetrants, to increase adhesion, together with flow control agents to minimise pinholes.

Responding to the requirement for smooth floors in industrial facilities, Tremco has developed the Uniflow, Unitex and Unismooth which meet HTM 61 requirements and can also be used in the healthcare sector.
