A multi-storey car park has been built at the Belfast City Hospital with the help of Tremco Illbruck's expertise. The company provided high performance waterproof mechanical movement joints to accommodate thermal stress in the hybrid structure. Building Products magazine has been told the project at one of the city's busiest medical facilites was undertaken by Graham Martin Construction as a design and build contract. Scott Wilson was the specialist civil and structural engineering consultancy involved.

Baskerville House, the former administrative headquarters of Birmingham City Council, has been reborn as a modern commercial development, including a new glazed roof structure and two extra storeys which includes the lower ground floor level car park. It is this level which now contains a Compriband construction joint from Tremco Illbruck that will relieve thermal stresses in the exisiting concrete slab. Two contracts for the refurbishment of multi-storey car parks at Dublin Airport have been successfully completed on time and within budget by the Wear Group using the fleece reinforced version of the Tremco Rapide system. The result is a tough and attractive wearing surface. Rapide 3 FR fleece reinforced is said to be ideal for high traffic environments and able to cope with the heavy wear associated with both ramps and turning spaces.

Allowing for flexible use of the school hall, a Dorma Variflex movable wall system has been installed at St Julian's High School in Newport. With design and construction variants, the Variflex system offers a choice of elements and stacking arrangements. It was chosen for this application as the ceiling height at the school was close to 6m. The moveable wall system offer sound insulation of 49dB and can be installed into spaces with sloping ceilings or circular areas. A range of surface finishes are available, including wood veneers, laminates, metallic finishes, granite fabric coverings and stainless steel inserts. Sheet steel, fibreglass, and textile surfaces can also be specified.

For refurbishment at a car park in Blackpool Tremco's Tretodek Hybuild and Rapide HB Systems have been applied. Some 4000m? of the products were installed across the top deck and level 2 of the car park. Hybuild is for exposed areas and is also specified for ramps and heavy wear areas, while Rapide HB is a fast-track tough and durable solution for intermediate levels.
