Wall board from Fermacell has been utilised on a new holiday home development for the Choice Hotel Group. A total of around 30,000m of 10mm thick board was used to form the internal walls of 52 timber framed three-bedroom holiday homes at Redbarn Strand near Youghal, County Cork, Ireland. With the product there is no need for wet trades, and in the Rebarn development, the board was fixed directly to the timber frame of the houses with the edges of the board butted together and glued. The glued joint requires no taping and cures within a day. If a fine glass finish is required, a layer of the company's Fine Surface Finish can be applied. The structure consists of a gypsum matrix reinforced with cellulose fibres. It is moisture and fire resistant with sound deadening properties.
