Construction starts at Big Yellow Self Storage development
Construction of a Big Yellow Self Storage facility in West London is underway, main contractor MCS Group announced today.
Midlands-based MCS Group is delivering a four-storey, 20,000 sq ft (gross internal area) development at Uxbridge for the UK’s leading self-storage company. The 32-week project is expected to reach practical completion in February 2021 and will deliver a 55,000 sq ft storage facility.
MCS Group has already delivered five similar Big Yellow stores, including developments at Reading, Camberley, Enfield, Guildford, and Gypsy Corner in West London.
Big Yellow Self Storage provides secure, modern purpose-built self-storage for domestic and business customers nationwide. Founded in 1998, it now operates 101 storage facilities, including 25 branded as Armadillo Self Storage.
James Currie, group construction director at MCS Group, said: “We’ve got a very successful, longstanding relationship with Big Yellow Self Storage, having worked alongside the company on five major contracts already. This new store will be a first-class building and we are delighted to now get construction underway at Uxbridge.”
Big Yellow Self Storage chief executive officer James Gibson said: “We are delighted to be building another store with MCS Group. We look forward to the opening of our Uxbridge store in February 2021 and offering further self-storage to West London, adding to the provision from our existing stores at Ealing, Hounslow and Slough.”
