First residents to move into new housing development near Bristol as new show homes open

A housing development in Coalpit Heath has just opened three new show homes and is about to welcome its first residents.

Work has been forging ahead at Blackberry Park since construction resumed following measures taken in response to the coronavirus pandemic, with the first houses now ready for occupation. The 5-star housebuilder has seen a huge upswing in interest since lockdown restrictions were eased.

The number of people registering their interest in a Barratt or David Wilson development in the South West went up by 82% last month on the same period last year.

Blackberry Park is surrounded by beautiful countryside views and lots of open space, with 204 two, three and four-bedroom homes being built as part of this new community. It’s ideally located for commuters to Bristol who are keen to make the most of village life and the great outdoors, with residents even given the opportunity to have their own allotment. The neighbouring village of Frampton Cotterell is home to the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Watermore Primary School, a Co-op and a range of traditional pubs, bars and restaurants.

As part of the development project, Barratt Homes is making a contribution worth £739,000 in total towards wider community improvements including outdoor sports facilities, allotments and recreational open space, as well as highways improvements such as investment in a new cycle path.

Andrea Pilgrim, sales director at Barratt Bristol, which covers the wider Bristol area, says: “It is fantastic to see Blackberry Park reaching such an important milestone with new residents moving into their new homes. We’ve had huge interest in the development, particularly from commuters to Bristol and families keen to make the most of the beautiful countryside on Coalpit Heath’s doorstep.

“With the Government having recently announced a stamp duty holiday for homes up to £500,000, and our own initiatives such as part-exchange and our NHS and Armed Forces deposit contribution schemes on offer, there’s lots of different routes open to people so they can snap up their dream home.”
