Collaboration with the client
SGC Glass worked closely with main contractor ISG and the client team from pre-start meetings and detailed site surveys through to progress reviews. Regular communication took place via Teams calls and on-site inspections.
ISG selected SGC Glass based on previous successful projects, strong product knowledge, and the ability to offer cost-effective alternatives aligned with the client’s objectives.
Challenges and solutions
- Live site operations: Internal hoarding was installed to create exclusion zones and minimise disruption.
- Noise and dust control: Measures were introduced to protect staff and visitors.
- Shopfront installation: Completed during weekend working hours using a Jekko glazing robot to maintain safe public access at the main entrance.
Quality assurance
Workmanship was monitored through senior team inspections and AuditPro audits. The client consistently reported positive feedback on product quality and service delivery.
The project was handed over two weeks ahead of programme. Thermal performance improved by 50–64% compared with the original glazing.
Ongoing support
SGC Glass provided daily progress updates and quick responses to queries throughout. At completion, the client received a full O&M package including cleaning and maintenance manuals.
“The project was completed ahead of schedule, with strong communication and great attention to detail from the SGC Glass team throughout.”
Outcome
The Harlesden Job Centre project demonstrates SGC Glass’s capability to deliver large-scale commercial glazing solutions on time and to a high standard. The team continues to provide reliable, cost-effective installations across public sector and commercial projects throughout London and the South East.
