Energy efficiency drive perfect storm for solar panel and heat pump leads

Massive price hikes from major energy suppliers and a focus on energy efficiency in the Spring Budget 2022 will see consumers focus on installing energy saving materials.

That’s the view of Andy Royle, co-founder and Managing Director of Leads 2 Trade, the UK’s leading provider of double-qualified sales leads for solar panels and air source heat pumps.

“Household gas and electricity bills have risen steeply after the annual energy price cap increased to £1,971 in April, but the rise in wholesale prices amid the war in Ukraine may mean the price cap ratchets up even more by the end of the year,” said Andy.

“It’s a scary thought and consumers will be fully aware of the need to cut their energy spending and reduce their household energy bills. It’s no surprise they are turning towards home improvements to help insulate their homes and keep the heat in – and that will only mean even more sales leads for air source heat pumps and solar panels from our comparison websites and online assets for our member network.”

As energy costs rise, one of the main points discussed during the Spring Budget was around energy efficiency and for the next five years homeowners having materials such as solar panels or heat pumps installed will pay zero VAT as opposed to 5%.

It follows hot on the heels of the government-run Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), which offers subsidies of £5,000 to homes in England and Wales to help them replace their gas boiler with heat pumps.

Andy said: “Energy efficiency will make a significant difference to energy bills and homeowners will have another incentive to install energy saving materials into their homes thanks to no longer having to pay 5% VAT.

“It means families who may be looking to install solar panels will save thousands on installation, and even more money on their energy bills.

“Homeowners are being encouraged to switch to a heat pump or other low-carbon technology when their current boiler requires replacing or upgrading and installers need to be ready to take advantage of the sharp increase we are expecting in enquiries as many start to make the switch.”

All air source heat pump and solar panel sales leads are double qualified from Leads 2 Trade’s own websites, which specialise in connecting homeowners looking for home improvements, by its in-house call centre.

The Stockport-based company’s guaranteed appointment, ‘no pitch no fee,’ leads are semi-exclusive and offered to just one other installer, making them easier to win, and installers only pay for the lead if they sit and pitch it.

“Leads for air source heat pumps and solar panels are set to rise as homeowners look to save money on skyrocketing energy bills,” added Andy. “And with our ‘no pitch no fee’ service, which saves time and provides a better conversion rate and cost per sale, installers will not want to miss out.”
