Euramax set to take modular market by storm

When Euramax Solutions set its sights firmly on the modular market, its ambitious expansion plans were clear.

And the uPVC window, door, and composite door manufacturer hasn’t wasted any time building on its reputation as a leading manufacturer of fenestration products to the modular construction sector.

Specialising in the leisure market and in particular the holiday home sector for more than 70 years, the Barnsley-based company has since expanded into construction more generally, working with some of the country’s biggest merchants and serving both the trade and DIY market.

The move into modular happened in 2019 and, as Nick Cowley, the company’s Managing Director, explains, it was the next logical step.

“The potential for offsite and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) is huge in the years ahead, from bridging the housing target gap to helping to regenerate high streets,” explained Nick.

“Using our core strengths of delivery and service from seven decades of experience in the leisure sector, we have been able to seamlessly move into modular and work regularly with some highly respected modular builders, including the likes of Portakabin and IIke Homes.”

And now, Euramax Solutions’ ambitious plans for expansion in modular have been accelerated thanks to an acquisition and a new strategic partnership.

A fast-growing force

At the beginning of the year, Euramax Solutions was acquired by Modular Group Investments (MGI), a fast-growing force in the modular construction market.

MGI is looking to acquire companies that either are in the modular supply chain or have the expertise to excel in it, with the aim of putting together an innovative group of componentry businesses to support the UK offsite and modular manufacturing sectors.

Nick said: “As our American owners were looking to sell the company we needed to find a buyer and, more importantly, the right business to take Euramax Solutions forward.

“MGI were the perfect fit due to their knowledge and passion around offsite and MMC and they recognised the potential of Euramax to help them achieve their own goals. Together with MGI, we look forward to continuing our growth plans, developing new products and building strong partnerships with our customers.”

A perfect partnership

To help with the new era, Euramax also entered a strategic partnership with Purplex, the leading full-service marketing agency in the fenestration and construction industries.

Purplex will assist Euramax as it looks to build on its reputation as a leading manufacturer of fenestration products to the modular construction sector.

“We see this partnership as extremely timely and beneficial given we are entering an exciting new chapter for Euramax as we look to scale up and expand into the modular market,” said Nick.

“We now have all the people and processes in place to really push the Euramax brand and Purplex’s reputation and experience in both the fenestration and construction industries mean they are best placed to help us do that.”

Ongoing precision

Euramax Solutions is constantly improving its production processes within the company to continuously provide a better service to the end user.

And it’s this precision and Euramax’s automotive approach to lean manufacturing and just-in-time delivery that is proving a big hit in modular.

“Lots of companies will deliver products in bulk which means that when it comes to fitting the window all the components may not be there, or some may be broken or damaged, which will provide hold ups that modular companies cannot afford,” said Nick.

“Modular construction relies on a smooth process which is why our lineside delivery system, with everything packaged together and in one place, meets modular construction firms exacting service level requirements.

“We see our role as a vital part of the modular process for our customers; from our production line to our delivery, we make the flow process smooth so when the time comes our windows can just be picked up and easily installed into modular buildings.

“Modular is expanding all the time, and thanks to our processes and service level we are well placed to meet the challenges the market faces, as well as customers’ changing needs and expectations.”
