New homes development in Brampton passes key milestone

Building work is progressing well on new housing development in the Cambridgeshire village of Brampton, where more than half of the new homes have now been sold.

Bellway Northern Home Counties is building a total of 150 new homes at Brampton Gate, off Laws Crescent, including 90 three, four and five-bedroom houses for private sale and 60 affordable homes made available for local people through rent or shared ownership.

A total of 31 families have already moved into their new homes at the development, with a further 16 homes now reserved.

Bellway is providing public open space and ecological areas alongside the new homes, with hedgehog and bird boxes already installed to encourage wildlife and a footpath being created through the grassed areas which surround the new homes.

Construction work at the site, which opened to the public in November 2018, is scheduled for completion in 2022.

Those wanting to see the interior of a typical home at Brampton Gate can book a tour of the three-bedroom Welland and the four-bedroom Potton showhomes, available on an appointment-only basis. Alternatively, house-hunters can access virtual tours of the Welland, Potton and four-bedroom Nene showhome online.

Sales Director for Bellway Northern Home Counties, Luke Southgate, said: “Brampton Gate has come a long way since we started building here, and the development is now really starting to take shape.

“So far the site has seen lots of interest from a mix of buyers of all ages – some residents are from the Cambridgeshire area, but there are also people moving to Brampton from London, Newark and even Newcastle, with a few residents commuting to London by cycling to the nearby train station in Huntingdon.

“It has also been a pleasure to see that a few residents have welcomed new arrivals to their families since moving in, and a couple more residents are expecting now too.

“Buyers here have been particularly drawn to the exceptional quality of construction, with our site manager, Paul Lawrence, being recognised by the National House Building Council at the Pride in the Job Awards this year for his excellence in on-site management.

“And of course, this is a great village location, close to the picturesque market town of Huntingdon and with great commuter links via the A14 and A1.”

There’s a range of three, four and five-bedroom houses available to reserve at Brampton Gate, with prices starting from £310,000.
