The Bristol division of housebuilder Barratt Homes raises nearly £27,000 for Alzheimer’s Research UK
The Bristol division of housebuilder Barratt Homes has handed over nearly £27,000 to the UK’s leading dementia research charity, Alzheimer’s Research UK, its charity of the year.
Dementia is one of the world’s greatest health challenges, with almost one million people living with dementia in the UK. Funds raised will go towards pioneering dementia research that will help to make breakthroughs in dementia research possible.
The charity was chosen by the team in Bristol as part of a collective decision-making process which involved a staff survey. Numerous fundraising activities were arranged over the course of a year, most prior to the pandemic, including a cake sale, bingo, a quiz, a golf day, and an exclusive show home furniture sale to staff, friends and family.
In total, staff and friends raised £13,392.92 by taking part in these activities, with Barratt Homes doubling the donation to £26,785.84.
Andrea Pilgrim, sales director at Barratt Bristol, which covers the wider Bristol area, says: “We’re so proud of our staff for their incredible efforts in raising this significant sum for Alzheimer’s Research UK, and we’re delighted to have been able to double the funds raised.
“At Barratt Homes, it’s hugely important to us to be able to help make a positive difference to people’s lives and charitable donations such as this one are just one of the ways we make this happen.”
