Insight Data Reveals Decline in Business Closures for Construction and Glazing Industry
Construction Insolvency Report by Insight Data
Business failures in the construction and glazing sector dropped sharply in November, according to the latest Insight Data monthly insolvency report we’ve reviewed. The figures show a welcome change after a difficult October, when closures surged across nearly every part of the industry.
Construction Insolvencies Fall Across Multiple Sectors
Insight Data, the UK’s leading specialist in construction marketing data intelligence, tracks business failures across the glass and glazing, construction and building product industries each month. Their November report shows widespread drops in the number of firms closing. Local builders saw the sharpest fall. Insolvencies dropped by 38 per cent, from 138 in October to 85 in November. Main contractors, those with turnover above £5 million, also improved. Only four firms closed in November compared to six in October, a 33 per cent decline. The glass and glazing industry recorded 89 closures in November, down from 124 in October. That’s a 28 per cent drop. Architects and builders’ merchants stayed relatively stable, with insolvencies falling by six and seven per cent respectively.
What the Numbers Mean for the Industry
These figures follow a troubling October, when failures jumped across almost every sector. Alex Tremlett, Commercial Director at Insight Data, said: “While this reduction in insolvencies shows a positive outcome as the industry heads towards the end of 2025, it doesn’t guarantee recovery. The total number of failures is still incredibly high, and I believe these financial pressures will no doubt continue as we enter the new year.” He added: “To stay ahead, I would recommend companies make key decisions based on live market intelligence, rather than instinct or outdated information. From my experience, when working in this competitive and unpredictable environment, the most successful companies are those that are proactive and data-driven.”
