New DRU Global cavity wall gas fire finds success in new build sector

This trim balanced flue model has been designed to fit a standard brick wall cavity, as used to construct most UK new build homes from the 1960s onwards.
This design is said to remove the need for a Class 1 chimney or false chimney breast, which have been prerequisites for most insert gas fires manufactured over the past 30 – 40 years. Instead, the fire fits flush to the wall, set off by a slimline fire surround and a terminal on the outside wall.
The fire is said to have an ‘impressively realistic’ flame picture, created by the DRU Truflame burner and is operated by an electronic remote control with a room temperature display.
This new fire has already been enjoyed by Mr and Mrs Bishop of Easingwold near York, who said they wanted to enhance their living room with an attractive and efficient source of additional heat.
Mark Bishop explained: “We needed to replace a rather dated looking 1980s gas fire, which was housed in an ugly brick fire surround. Having researched various options, we discovered the Global cavity wall fire at approved DRU dealer, Stonehouse Fireplaces in York.
“It was ideal for our purposes as our house has no chimney, but this fire slots neatly into the cavity wall and the terminal on the outside wall is compact and unobtrusive.
“We also decided to buy from Stonehouse because of their selection of fire surrounds, many of which they manufacture themselves. The one we chose is the Kelso, which combines a slimline profile with a classic design and compliments the fire beautifully.
“Their engineers installed the whole assembly in just one day and did a very professional job!
“Now that the cooler autumn evenings have arrived, we are enjoying the lovely flame effect that the fire gives out and the additional warmth that it brings to our living room.”
