IBI Group to design Aberystwyth Innovation Campus

IBI Group has been appointed to design the £40.5m Aberystwyth Innovation and Enterprise Campus (AIEC), aimed at creating market-focused solutions for the agri-tech industry.
Aberystwyth University will be collaborating with the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) to deliver the scheme, which will be designed to empower researchers to work more collaboratively and productively in a commercially focused environment.
“The research carried out at Aberystwyth University is world leading,” said IBI Group’s Mark Drane. “We are very proud to be involved with such an exciting development and to be given the chance to design an innovative hub that will inspire successful collaborations between researchers and budding entrepreneurs.”
Huw Watkins, AIEC project director, said: “We look forward to working closely with the team at IBI Group to progress the development of this exciting project and have already benefited from their approach, relevant experience and creativity.”
The Campus will house a wide range of facilities including a Bio-refining Centre, Future Food Centre, Analytical Science laboratories and access to a Seed Processing and BioBank Facility. It will also provide formal and informal meeting areas together with office accommodation for industry.
