SageGlass launches in UK

Electrochromic glass manufacturer, SageGlass, is set to introduce its Lightzone product to the UK by replacing an entire glass wall at the Telford exhibition centre.

132 conventional glass units at the centre will be permanently replaced with SageGlass Lightzone in advance of the launch of the product at The Fabricator Installer Trade (FIT) Show, which takes place in April.

Electronically tintable SageGlass, a product of Saint-Gobain, is designed to optimise daylight and manage temperature, while maintaining unobstructed views of the outdoors.

Lightzone allows the creation of up to three variable tint zones within a single pane of glass. The glass is automatically controlled by four external light sensors which detect predetermined light levels at which the SageGlass will tint from the clear state of 60% light transmission, in four stages down to 1% light transmission.

All cable and controls are integrated in to the system and are installed in the existing curtain walling. Tinting and light levels can also be controlled via a SageGlass Mobile App.

“Unlike conventional sun controls such as mechanical window shades or blinds, SageGlass allows architects to elegantly solve solar control challenges without sacrificing aesthetics and design,” the company said.
