Trivselhus and Ideal Standard: Perfect partners for cutting edge sustainable homes

The volume of conversations around climate change and sustainability has never been greater. Consumers now not only want new homes that are beautifully designed, they expect properties to be energy efficient and to have no negative impact on the environment.
Achieving this balance requires innovation and forward thinking, both of which housebuilder Trivselhus applies to its sustainable developments across the UK. It’s recent development Sommar Place in Milton Keynes, named as “Britain’s Smartest Homes” by The Sunday Times, was no exception. When it came to the bathrooms for these properties, Ideal Standard was said to be the perfect fit.
“At Trivselhus, we pride ourselves on providing beautiful homes that are crafted to the highest standard for people who care about quality and style”, explained Rob Morris, projects delivery director at Trivselhus. “A primary focus for the Sommar Place development was making it easy for people to live in an eco-friendly way by helping them manage their homes more efficiently and making sure they only use what they need, when they need it.”
Trivselhus was impressed by Ideal Standard’s Concept Air range, which blends seamlessly with its Scandinavian style and sustainable ethos. The Concept Air close-coupled back-to-wall AquaBlade toilets were chosen for the main bathrooms of the 39 homes on site, because of both their design and water efficient technology. These toilets are fitted with a dual flush system to offer more efficient use of water – even at low-water volumes – allowing homeowners to save on both water and costs. A system of channels built within the toilet rims also ensures they are cleaner and quieter.
Concept Air vanity basins were also chosen for the family and en-suite bathrooms across Sommar Place as their fine lines and light design fitted perfectly with the Swedish-style interiors.
“We knew our Concept Air ceramics were a natural choice for this development,” said Chris Waites, residential specification manager at Ideal Standard. “They complement the design-led yet simple stylings of the Scandinavian look, while also providing key water saving features that are of real importance to consumers when buying a new home.”
In addition to the Concept Air range, Ceratherm 200 showers were installed in the en-suite bathrooms. These feature an eco-button which restricts water flow, without compromising on performance. On average these showers save around 43% more water than comparable products. The showers were paired with Kubo enclosures, which are robust enough to withstand the needs of a family home, while offering a modern and minimalist feel.
Tempo baths were selected for the family bathrooms. Their streamlined shape is not only stylish, but also gives a feeling of space.
In all the bathrooms in the homes, Tesi brassware was used to complement the ceramics. The mixers are fitted with flow regulators to help homeowners save money and reduce their water consumption. They also come with Ideal Standard’s Easyfix system which reduces the risk of leakage and limescale, and provide a robust solution that will stand the test of time – ultimately reducing the cost of replacements for homeowners.
